PART OF THE OLYMPUS CORPORATION

Algram Group Limited, a subsidiary of the Olympus group, manufactures a range of thermoplastic products primarily for the Medical sector from its Plympton based facility. Acquired in 1996 by Olympus KeyMed, Algram has benefited from continued investment in new plant and machinery, and has gained many years of experience in supplying components to various worldwide markets.

DESIGN SUPPORT

Our Engineering Department incorporates a broad range of technical experience to work with our customers during the early development stages of their projects from initial concept to the finished product.

TOOL PROCUREMENT

In this very competitive global market, it is essential to offer low cost tooling solutions to meet customer needs at the same time, always ensuring component quality also meets the customer specification.

INJECTION MOULDING

Our injection moulding centre has a range of presses from 50 up to 500 tonnes which give us the capability to manufacture high technology plastic components in a variety of polymers.

QUALITY CONTROL

A combination of first off inspection, patrol inspection and statistical sample based final inspection are used to monitor and control the quality of each production batch of components and assemblies.

CNC MACHINING

This versatile machine can also be used to manufacture components for various industrial sectors and strengthens our process capabilities and flexibility to meet our customer demands.

THERMOFORMING

Our forming machines are capable of handling sheet sizes up to 2m x 1m and up to 6mm thickness, with the final trimming and finishing being performed on 5 axis CNC routers. Consistent component quality is therefore maintained.

ASSEMBLY

Through the implementation of flexible assembly cells, we can accommodate the specific needs of our customers, providing a complete project management service on one site.

CLEANROOM ASSEMBLY

We have the capability to mould, assemble, inspect and blister pack components within a clean room environment.

PAD & SCREEN PRINTING

Algram has an in-house component painting/part marking process capability which includes wet paint process, pad printing, screen printing and EMC shielding.

Investing in the Future

Algram has invested  in a state-of-the-art integrated business management system which means that we are strongly positioned to serve the changing needs of our customers now and well into the future.

Engineering in Plastics

We are dedicated to excellence in the manufacture of high quality plastic components and assemblies,  recognised as both a tier 1 and tier 2 supplier to the aerospace, automotive, medical and industrial sectors.

Quality Assured

Algram is committed to providing excellent standards through disciplined application of an integrated quality management system, which has resulted in the company being certified to the current industry standards.

QUALITY ENGINEERING EXPERIENCE

With many years experience in plastics manufacturing, we are able to identify potential quality or reliability risks early and, in conjunction with the customer, adjust the design to eliminate them before mould tool production commences.

Our experienced engineers use APQP, FMEA, Mould Flow Analysis and Process Capability Studies to ensure customer specifications are consistently achieved through tight project control and robust engineering solutions. We also have the capability to carry out Process Optimisation / Validation for IQ/OQ/PQ with regards to Medical component manufacture.

SPECIALIST CAPABILITIES

Our specialist expertise consist of processing high performance engineering polymers using the injection moulding/thermoforming process, In the past we supplied to a diverse range of customers, including OEMs within the Automotive, Medical, Aerospace and Electronics Industries.

At Algram we can produce mouldings of heavy wall sections in PPSU raw material where a thick section is required. This can be combined with gas assist injection moulding used to produce components where a heavy wall section is required and also reduces sink on cosmetic faces.

Other techniques we use also include over moulding, using a soft TPE plastic onto a Polycarbonate/PPSU substrate. Produce complex mouldings from two different polymers at the same time during one machine cycle. Plasma technology – used to eliminate contamination and improve adhesion properties prior to the painting process, and in-mould coating – used to create specific decorative surface finish, all in line with customer specifications.

COMPLETE ISO CERTIFICATION

As part of our certification we carry out continuous staff training via a rigorously controlled procedure. All staff are reviewed on a regular basis and any additional training identified would be implemented. Adding to this, regular quality briefing sessions are also carried out. Algram is committed to providing excellent standards through disciplined application of an integrated quality management system. Implementation of such disciplines has resulted in the company being certified to the latest ISO Standards.
